After my performance at Morton Stanley Festival in August, I was asked to perform at the John Bonham Memorial gig in Redditch on the 26th September, to commemorate John Bonham's life, on the 35th anniversary of his death. With Led Zeppelin being a huge influence and favourite band of mine, and John Bonham being one of the most talented and influential drummers of all time, I was honoured to have been asked to be apart of this event.
Performing with my cousin, Sam Faux, of funk rock band 'Captain Jeffrey', we acoustically covered a range of songs from John Mayer, to Foo Fighters, to Jimi Hendrix, as well as our own rendition of 'Going to California' by Led Zeppelin. The concert was a success, and again it was great to see so many people come to support and be apart of the event. The weekend was arranged and set up by 'The John Bonham Memorial Fund' who are a group campaigning to get a permanent memorial of John Bonham put up in his home town of Redditch. More info on their group, and ways in which you can help contribute to their cause can be found on their website: www.johnbonhammemorialfund.com. It was a pleasure to have been apart of this event and involved with a group campaigning for a really great cause. I'd like to thank the John Bonham Memorial Fund and Steve Barnes of Redditch Music Festival for the opportunity, as well as everyone who came to show their support. - Dom
